Solid Surface Finisher Builder I

JOB PURPOSE

The Solid Surface Finisher Builder I is responsible for the fabrication and reworking of solid surface sink materials and other manmade stone products while maintaining all quality standards and ensuring all tools are properly maintained.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work independently to fabricate standard styles, sizes, and basic colors of solid surface sinks per print and drawing specifications while maintaining standard build times per capacity plan.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure full compliance of all manufacturing standards and customer specifications. Check and verify cosmetic and dimensional tolerances are true and accurate. Capable of repairing minor non-conformance issues.
  • Inspect workstation tools and equipment to ensure they are dependable, reliable, and in safe working condition. Communicate any issues to lead and/or supervision.
  • Understand, document, and maintain all established quality standards and procedures. Follow quality inspection procedures and check sheets and accurately fill out required documentation
  • Maintain positive working relationships with team members while communicating with other departments as needed to support the production plan and schedule. Participate in cross training opportunities with other departments when possible.
  • Identify and recommend safety, quality and productivity initiatives through department team meetings, engineering, and or production manager.
  • Provide feedback and recommend process improvement ideas of solid surface procedures.
  • Use hand router to form drain holes, cut corners and edging of sinks to specified dimensions.
  • Assemble various component pieces into final product using clamps, tape, glues, adhesives, and fixtures for 1,2,3, & 4 station sinks in specific colors.
  • Use oscillating hand sanders to put final visual finish on product.
  • Perform quality testing, such as water leak testing and visual and physical seam inspections. Perform required rework on non-conformance issues.
  • Ensure appropriate amounts of glue adhesive is used to achieve desired visual and structural standards.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Works independently.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, standard operating procedures, and maintenance instructions.
  • Ability to read and work with production drawings, schematics, or blueprints to perform job duties.
  • Ability to read, understand, and implement quality control documentation.
  • Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, drawing, print , or diagram format.
  • Capable of using a variety of hand tools, solid surface manufacturing equipment and materials.
  • Proficiency in using a variety of hand and power tools, including but not limited to saws, oscillating sanders, hand routers, chisels, and others.
  • Proven positive attendance record

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • <1 year Experience working with solid surfaces, including building, finishing and maintaining quality standards.
  • <1 year Previous experience in woodworking, cabinet building, or similar industry.
  • Familiarity with Corian and other solid surface materials.
  • General computer skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
