Sloan Flushmate has an opening for a Sr Quality Manager in our New Hudson, MI facility.  In this role you will be responsible for the development, implementation and management of the Quality and Continuous Improvement systems, plans and policies

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Leads and facilitates strategic planning and annual goal setting for the quality organization. Supports supplier evaluations and development. Facilitates business reviews and presents KPI's to executive leadership, suppliers and customers.
  • Advances a culture of continuous improvement, integrates Lean philosophy into operations and management development programs. Provides direction and guidance in all areas of Lean / Six Sigma methodology and acts as a key driver of change within the business unit supporting all functions throughout the company's Lean transformation.
  • Report Quality KPI's and Dashboards to executive management, along with manufacturing supervisors and hourly employees. Lead efforts to identify high impact reoccurring issues and effective corrective actions. Implement continuous improvement programs that address high impact reoccurring issues to mitigate them from future impact.
  • Direct Quality Assurance daily activities including, but not limited to, verification of conformance to print / process specification of manufactured and assembled parts along with parts / services performed by suppliers. Assists with Engineering Specification Development as required.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Sustaining Engineering, Suppliers and Field Service to investigate customer quality complaints. Facilitate regular Quality Review Board (QRB) meetings with the above functions to drive continuous improvement and accountability. Setup and perform experiments, inspections and analysis allowing for data driven decisions and corrective action. Activities may include placing product on hold, rework, recall and / or redesign product or process.
  • Develop, monitor and analyze customer returns, internal defects, test yields, scrap and other non-conforming conditions relating to product, process or systems followed by recommended corrective and preventive measures or actions. Utilize formalized problem-solving methodologies (e.g. 8D processes and action plans).
  • Actively champion company-wide improvement activities to reduce waste, increase yield and improve customer satisfaction. Utilize best practices such as Kaizen, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement Methodologies, Lean and APQP to raise the performance of the company's product lines and drive reduction of Cost of Poor Quality. Designs, implements and documents procedures for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection.
  • Supervise and direct Quality & Continuous Improvement Engineers, Inspectors, and Lab Technicians. Hire, mentor, train, review work, assist employees, evaluate performance, enforce company rules and recommend changes in employee status.
  • Maintain plant wide QMS compliance and registration as appropriate. Coordinate product / process audits and facilitate compliance to system, product or process certification through third party regulatory organizations. Recommend corrective and preventative measures in response to non-conformances or discrepancies.
  • Plan, direct and facilitate QC Lab and validation testing in support of new product development and daily product and process conformance to specifications while investigating opportunities for improvement.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering / technology
  • 10+ Years Experience in a Quality related role in a manufacturing and/or assembly environment as a Quality Engineer, Reliability Engineer and/or Supervisor in Quality
  • 5+ Years Experience as a Quality Manager leading others in a Manufacturing / Assembly environment.
  • Demonstrates clear, professional, and respectful verbal and written communication in all interactions, consistent with an inclusive work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability in developing and leading teams effectively and interfacing successfully with customers.
  • Diverse knowledge of inspection and control methods, techniques and documentation.
  • Experience in designing and implementing quality systems.
  • Experience maintaining ISO, AAR, TS, AS or other internationally recognized Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Implementation experience with 5S, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Standardized Work, Cellular Manufacturing, Kaizen, Single piece flow and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
