We have an immediate need for a Manager of Engineering at our Stone & Steel facility located in Mesa, AZ.  The Manager of Engineering is responsible for leading and developing the various Engineering functions to meet the challenges of tomorrow. This role will lead all aspects of Design Engineering and new produt development for the Stone and Steel operation.  This role is responsible for all the engineering activities within a department including product design, development, validation, documentation and operational support. The candidate should have solid technical skills in mechanical engineering, product design and manufacturing processes. This role leads and develops the engineering team. This will require a strong linkage to industry wide best practice as well as strong change management skills.



  • Interface with customers and other partners, including rep agencies, architects, installers, end users, building owners, etc to provide product support and technical information.  Use a combination of logic, experience, analysis and advanced problem solving methodologies to make solid, timely decisions and solve difficult problems.
  • Ensure that delivery plans and timelines keep projects on schedule and on budget.
  • Act as a resource to reports on technical issues and provide instruction on how to perform proper engineering/business  processes, analysis, or procedures.
  • Supervise direct reports. Give feedback on goal performance periodically and implement corrective actions to insure employee performance.
  • Mentor engineering staff for career development, retention, motivation and technical capabilities.
  • Establish priorities and distribute work to the Engineering departments and outside resources based on priority, work load and individual skills..
  • Manage daily work assignments for front end engineering team to ensure quotes, submittal drawings, manufacturing drawings, Bills of Materials and other related documents are created correctly and on-time to ensure customer satisfaction..
  • Continually improve the productivity of the Engineering community through tactics such as best in class Engineering practice, platform approaches and re-use..
  • Ensure good Engineering guidelines are followed, strong support of Manufacturing ocures and  all products and documentation deliver an error free manufacturing execution.
  • Actively participate in and support Kaizen events, continuous improvement activity, manufacturing fixture and tooling design and process qualification.



  • 4-year Technical Degree preferably Mechanical Engineering or Design.
  • Prior supervisory experience required.
  • At least 8 years of product design and development experience.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills. This includes introducing change into an organization.
  • Experience with engineering applications such as 3D-CAD, FEA.
  • Direct experience creating or modifying engineering development processes.
  • Experience in Commercial Construction
