About the Role:
The Lead SAP ABAP Developer designs, develops, and supports custom SAP solutions across multiple functional areas, bringing strong hands-on ABAP development expertise together with functional exposure to one or more business areas such as Supply Chain, Sales & Distribution (SD), HR, and Finance. This role requires a strong command of core ABAP development tools (SAPscripts/Smartforms, Workflow) as well as modern Object-Oriented ABAP and SAP S/4HANA development practices. A holder of this position works directly with Business Analysts and business partners to gather and clarify requirements, independently designs and delivers technical solutions, and demonstrates the ability to mentor junior developers and lead technical design discussions with minimal supervision. Experience with EDI/IDocs and SAP add-on solutions such as LeverX and Vistex is a plus.
What you'll do:
- Design, develop, test, and support custom ABAP programs, enhancements, and interfaces across SAP ECC and S/4HANA landscapes.
- Partner with functional teams and business stakeholders across Supply Chain, SD, HR, and Finance to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Work directly with Business Analysts and business partners to gather and clarify requirements and independently design and deliver the solution.
- Design and develop print forms and output documents using SAPscript and Smartforms (invoices, purchase orders, shipping documents, etc.).
- Build and configure SAP Business Workflow solutions to automate approval processes and business notifications.
- Apply Object-Oriented ABAP (OOABAP) principles - classes, interfaces, BAdIs, and the Enhancement Framework - to deliver scalable, maintainable code.
- Participate in S/4HANA development, conversion, and optimization initiatives, including CDS Views and OData/RAP-based development.
- Perform code reviews, unit testing, performance tuning, and ensure adherence to ABAP development standards and best practices.
- Provide technical documentation and support production issue resolution.
- Other duties and responsibilities as required.
What you'll need:
- Strong time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to mentor junior developers and lead technical design discussions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to interface directly with business and functional teams.
- Working knowledge of HANA-optimized ABAP practices (code pushdown) and S/4HANA conversion or custom code remediation.
- Hands-on SAP S/4HANA development experience, including CDS Views, ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP)/OData services, and Fiori/UI5 integration.
- Strong command of Object-Oriented Programming (OOABAP) - ABAP Objects, classes, interfaces, BAdIs, and enhancement techniques (user exits, customer exits, implicit/explicit enhancements).
- Proven experience designing and developing SAPscript and Smartforms output documents.
- Functional and technical exposure to one or more of the following SAP business areas: Supply Chain Management (SCM)/Materials Management (MM), Sales & Distribution (SD), Human Resources (HR/HCM), or Finance (FI/CO).
- Proficient in core ABAP development tools, including Reports (classical, interactive, and ALV), Module Pool Programming, BAPIs, RFCs, Function Modules, Data Dictionary, and performance tuning/debugging.
- 8-12 years of hands-on SAP ABAP development experience in a large enterprise environment.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
A plus, but not required:
- Hands-on experience with SAP Business Workflow design, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Experience working with LeverX add-on solutions.
- Experience working with Vistex (pricing, rebates, or incentive/commission management).
- Experience with EDI development - IDocs, ALE configuration, IDoc extensions, and EDI/IDoc error monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with SAP HR Infotypes and a working understanding of core business processes.
- SAP ABAP certification.

Compensation:
The compensation range for this U.S.-based position is $124,110-$137,900 annually.
This position is eligible to participate in the company incentive plan. The terms and conditions of the company incentive plan will be provided to plan participants on an annual basis.
Our compensation range reflects our good faith estimate of what an ideal candidate can expect, but final agreed-upon compensation will always be based on the individual candidate’s experience, skills, qualifications, and other job-related or market factors that may prove relevant during the hiring process.
