About the Role:
Sloan has an opening for a Value Stream Manager I in our Franklin Park, IL headquarters reporting to the Value Stream Manager II. The Value Stream Manager I will provide cross functional leadership to Supervisors, Manufacturing Engineers and Lean Leaders to ensure daily manufacturing output. You will also support all continuous improvement initiatives throughout your assigned areas of responsibility. What you'll do:
- Be a key member of the manufacturing operations management team, reporting directly to the Value Stream Manager for Operations.
- Manage Supervisors and Operational Excellence (Lean) Engineers.
- Lead a two shift High Volume Finishing & Plating Value Stream.
- Develop a 3-Year Flow Plan and Capital Plan for the Finishing & Plating Value Streams.
- Conduct ongoing lean transformation to reduce waste and create a lean culture.
- Quickly establish yourself as a leader within the supply chain, with the expectation of career progression.
- Leading initiatives to achieve operation's manufacturing KPI goals in safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and cost.
- Advance a culture of continuous improvement, integrate Lean philosophy into operating and management development programs.
- Mentor, train, and develop world-class employees for career progression.
- Develop staffing requirements to ensure manufacturing targets are achieved at the lowest labor cost possible.
- Ensure daily and monthly production targets are attained.
- Implement Daily Accountability Metrics for Daily Output.
- Coach Supervisors on their management of Union Employees.
- Implement Quality Programs to reduce scrap associated with metal finishing process.
- Other duties and responsibilities as required.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical, industrial or related field.
- 5+ Years Relevant Experience in Manufacturing and Operations Management.
- Ability to use discretion when working with confidential information.
- Able to plan, organize, and schedule individual and group work assignments.
- Actively identifies problems and opportunities for change and implements solutions where appropriate.
- Actively listens to others and objectively considers others’ ideas and opinions, even when they conflict with one’s own.
- Analyzes information and uses logic to address work-related issues and problems.
- Enjoys working in a team environment.
- Familiarity with scheduling, level loading, and capacity planning.
- Flexible and adaptive to changing business needs.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
A plus, but not required:
- 1+ Years Environmental compliance experience.
- 1+ Years Electroplating/metal finishing experience.
- Basic Spanish - carry out basic conversations.
- Expert level experience working with Microsoft Excel.
- General experience working with SAP ERP Business System.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and 5s.

Compensation: The compensation range for this U.S.-based position is $102,600 - $114,000 annually. This position is eligible to participate in the company incentive plan. The terms and conditions of the company incentive plan will be provided to plan participants on an annual basis. Our compensation range reflects our good faith estimate of what an ideal candidate can expect, but final agreed upon compensation will always be based on the individual candidate’s experience, skills, qualifications, and other job-related or market factors that may prove relevant during the hiring process.
