With the development of Sloan’s growing product portfolio and continuous improvement initiatives Sloan Valve Company is in need for a Supplier Quality Engineer II. The SQE II, primarily will ensure procured components meet customer requests and support the core business, while driving continuous improvement. The SQE II will operate daily within various exciting new product development projects, while utilizing, developing, and promoting the use of best practices in APQP such as FMEA, MSA, Control plans. This role will be located in our Greater Chicago Office, in close proximity to O’hare International airport, reporting to the Global Supplier Quality Manager. Within this role, one will be expected to actively troubleshoot and lead cross functional improvement initiatives. There will be a need to expeditiously investigate production issues with supplier follow up to address root cause and minimize line interruptions.

 

 

Job Description

  • Monitor & maintain quality systems, testing, & inspection activities designed to assure that products meet the print specifications.
  • Assist in the development & implementation of external corrective actions designed to improve, correct, or maintain products, processes, and service standards, specifications, and requirements.
  • Lead activities in qualifying, developing, certifying, and assisting both internal and external suppliers and Vendors.
  • Apply APQP techniques such as FMEA, Control Plans, and Measurement System Analysis to evaluate the producibility of the new products and stability of the production processes.
  • Utilize Statistical data to identify and resolve problems. Lead problem solving teams that focus on problem prevention and variance reduction.
  • Audit, modify, standardize best inspection practices.
  • Participate in in engineering change meetings to ensure awareness to design changes.
  • Maintain detailed reports on supplier quality, including defect rates and specifics relating to the flaws.
  • Perform regular quality control audits to ensure vendors continue to work incompliance with Sloan standards.
  • Review and evaluate supplier quality data to identify process improvements opportunities within the supply chain.
  • Review daily vendor scrap to drive improvement.
  • Investigate production issues with supplier product to drive corrective actions and continuous improvement.
  • Direct work instructions for Inspectors, Technicians, and employees assigned to the quality function.
  • Support New product launches to ensure suppliers can deliver to the required quality standards.
  • Lead and coordinate activities between Product Line Managers, manufacturing, and design engineering to implement changes to improve product quality.
  • Collaborate with QRB. Review and analyze customer returns and determine nature and source of problems and implement corrective actions.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field 
  • 2+ Years experience in quality and manufacturing processes
  • Demonstrates clear, professional, and respectful verbal and written communication in all interactions, consistent with an inclusive work environment.
  •  Competency in statistical analysis (Excel or Minitab)
  • New Product Development and Introduction (NPDI)
