We have an immediate need for a Senior Project Manager, New Product Development based at our world headquarters in Franklin Park, Illinois. This dynamic role leads projects and coordinates project execution across all functions within the business including engineering, marketing, and operations. Projects will vary in size and complexity, and he or she will lead and manage project integration, scope, time, quality, and costs. Strong communication skills are required to coordinate tasks between departments and communicate status, risk, and issues associated to the projects to the correct levels within the organization, including up to the Executive level. This is a high visibility role critical to the success of new product development within Sloan, and we are looking for an experienced individual with a technical background to fill this position.


Projects typically involve:

  • Revenue and/or cost responsibility between $1M and $5M per project
  • Approximate project duration of one to two years
  • Working with 4-7 functional departments
  • Project teams of 10-20 people
  • Leading 3-5 projects of varying sizes and complexity



Key Responsibilities:


  • Leads cross functional and consultant/contractor team members assigned during the duration of a project to ensure timely completion of project deliverables. 
  • Leads activities required to complete project documents:  project plan, project charter/structure and roles/responsibilities, scope, project schedules, project budget, project ROI including on-going operating costs and resource requirements.
  • Develops project cost estimates and budgets for assigned projects and initiates cost control measure to ensure project budgets are met.
  • Communicates project status to team and stakeholders throughout the duration of the assignment and post implementation to make certain all impacted functional teams and stakeholders have an understanding of risks, issues and activities related to the project.
  • Obtains appropriate level of approval for all project documentation to ensure appropriate understanding of expectations amongst all stakeholders.
  • Provides leadership, coaching and guidance on a continuous basis to project team members in the areas of project lifecycle, operating procedures, processes and practices.
  • Creates risk management plans to identify, analyze, monitor and respond to risks associated with the project to ensure ability to achieve expected outcomes on time and on budget.
  • Review the operational and engineering aspects of the project to assure compliance with project objectives.  This includes participating in design reviews, project risk assessment, design FMEA, process FMEA, and other commercialization activities as required.

  • BS in Engineering or comparable required.
  • 7+ years project management experience.
  • Experience in new product development
  • Background in mechanical or electrical design a plus
  • Background in manufacturing or Six Sigma a plus
