Sloan has an immediate opening for a Sr Product Manager based in either our Chicago or Franklin Park, IL facilities. The successful candidate will be able to decipher and understand the unmet needs and challenges of the building products industry. You will also lead cross functional teams to develop a total solution and drive product direction, new product development and product roadmap.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide internal and sales support to grow categories and support the direct sales team focused on assigned categories.
- Defines, collaborates and executes product strategy and roadmap; includes new product development opportunity assessments and product enhancement recommendations and SKU rationalization.
- Develop annual strategic plans and multiyear product road map (Multi-Generation Product Plan), implement the approved plans through the strategic deployment process and measure its success.
- Collect and serve as voice of the customer for product category and apply to the company's ability to meet or exceed customer satisfaction goals. Propose innovative products and solutions that leverage organization's competencies and align with the strategic plans.
- Develops sales plans with sales team, channels patterns and helps execute the sales plan with the sales organization.
- Complete responsibility of P&L of two or more product categories. Establishes pricing strategies to meet revenue and profitability goals. Achieve financial goals relating to product revenue and margin that are aligned with the company overarching financial goals; while managing expense budget.
- Establishes product forecast and relevant KPI for existing portfolio of products and new product introductions; ensuring stakeholder and leadership buy-in. Lead S&OP for the assigned product lines.
- Develops core positioning and messaging for product(s) that align with company Brand and positioning strategy. Develop and implement marketing programs, promotions, sales support and communication material aligned with Director of Marketing Communications leader. Analyze and report effectiveness and success of programs.
- Identify competitive offerings in the market. Review their niche, approach, and success in the market. Assess their strengths and weaknesses for opportunities to increase market share. Evaluate the presence and relative importance of key product features. Develop and communicate competitive positioning and sales 'battlecard' for the sales organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, business, engineering, or related field
- 10+ years product management experience
- Manufacturing industry experience preferred
- Strong strategic thinking skills and the ability to turn strategy into action
- Demonstrated use of effective financial, analytical, organizational and project management
- Strong analytical skills with a high level of understanding of a business P&L.
- Strong decision-making ability and the ability to work in and build a team environment and lead cross functionally
- Ability to travel a minimum of 5 trips a year nationally
- Ability to work and influence at all levels within the organization
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; including persuasion and negotiation skills Experience in planning and project managing complex product launches
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA or equivalent.
- Experience in building products industry
- Experience in developing after sales support or service business model.
- Prior leadership experience with exposure to P&L.
- Background in merchandizing for B2B or B2C point of sales.

Compensation:
The compensation range for this U.S.-based position is $138,000 to $154,000 annually.
This position is eligible to participate in the company incentive plan. The terms and conditions of the company incentive plan will be provided to plan participants on an annual basis.
Our compensation range reflects our good faith estimate of what an ideal candidate can expect, but final agreed-upon compensation will always be based on the individual candidate’s experience, skills, qualifications, and other job-related or market factors that may prove relevant during the hiring process.
