We have an immediate need for a NPDI Quality Engineer at our Corporate Headquarters in Franklin Park, IL. As an embedded NPDI team member, the purpose of this position is to plan and direct APQP team activities concerned with development, documentation and application focused toward preventative actions of new products being developed by Sloan Valve.  Analyze and evaluate the quality of products or components purchased or manufactured to ensure conformance to requirements.  There will be routine collaboration with team members, shareholders, suppliers and other functional departments toward recommending changes to improve quality and total customer satisfaction.  This position will also be responsible for applying project management skills to assure the timely and efficient execution of innovation and renovation projects from development through post launch.  The position requires the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively, provide insight concerning potential risks and opportunities, initiate solutions and deliver results.




  • Develop, conduct, document and maintain supportive statistical data (i.e. yield, Cp/Cpk, MSA, Gage R&R, etc.) for various product studies.  Maintain databases and spreadsheets and present recommendations and conclusions.
  • Establish and recommend changes to manufacturing processes, methods, product designs and equipment and inspection techniques to achieve project objectives.
  • Evaluate and study standard and special machine tool operations, capacities, set-up procedures, tooling, fixtures, new product designs, gauges and inspection techniques to determine deviations from standards and to improve product quality.
  • Perform internal, external product/process audits.  Review and analyze customer returns and determine nature and source of problems and recommend corrective action.
  • Gather, analyze and evaluate component/product performance data and implement corrective action.
  • Train at support personnel at Sloan facilities.
  • Provide liaison and coordinate activities between Product Management, Manufacturing, and Product Engineering to implement innovative changes to improve product quality.
  • Responsible to train and lead collaborative team development of various APQP principles, tools and methodologies.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required.


Minimum Requirements:


  • BS in Engineering or Technology.
  • 5 years’ experience in quality position within a union environment of manufacturing company as a Quality Engineering, Reliability Engineer, and/or  Supervisor in Quality Control/ Inspection.
  • Must demonstrated skills in problem solving along with strong time management.
  • Able to handle multiple  priorities. 
  • Requires strong skills in statistics and problem solving.  Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes, six sigma and lean concepts. 


Preferred Criterion:


  • Certified Quality Engineer or Reliablity Engineer, Six Sigma Black Belt, ISO Auditor, GD&T, American Society for Quality Membership.
  • ASQ Certification preferred.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.
