We have an immediate need for a Operational Excellence Leader II will be based at our world headquarters in Franklin Park, Illinois. The incumbent will champion and lead all enterprise Lean activities and drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the organization globally.  The Director will oversee all aspects of Sloan’s Lean transformation including implementation, policies and training.


Key Responsibilities:


  • To advance a culture of continuous improvement, integrate Lean philosophy into operating and management development programs.
  • Identify, Scope, Lead, and Implement process improvement projects in Assembly, Machining, Polishing, Plating, Casting, Rubber Molding, and Distribution
  • Provide direction and guidance in all areas of Lean/Six Sigma methodology and act as a key driver of change within each of the business units supporting all functions throughout the company’s Lean transformation.
  • Manage 3-6 concurrent kaizen events
  • Recommend, Justify, and Implement the installation of capital equipment
  • Works with Business Process Management (BPM) staff and teams to incorporate Lean metrics into corporate key performance indicators (KPI’s) and process control metrics (PCM’s) and deploying it into the Lean Management System(LMS) with Tier 1 EE's.
  • Design Tooling Concepts for both Existing and New Production processes
  • Assist in the design of products to ensure Design for Manufacturability
  • Facilitate and Mentor root cause and counter measure techniques for all Tier 1 EE's
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required.




  • A Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management or related field or equivalent is required.   
  • A minimum of 5-7 years experience with a minimum of 3 years management experience with at least 3 years experience as an organization’s dedicated Lean/Six Sigma leader.
  • Minimum of 3 years prior lean role at a dedicated Lean/Six Sigma Leader
  • Experience in converting a traditional operation (service or manufacturing) to a Lean manufacturing operation, with a disciplined focus on customer satisfaction. This conversion experience must include actual implementation, not just management or sponsorship, and demonstrated experience in dealing with the natural challenges arising from a Lean transformation.
  • Lean systems education will have been received from a reputable source such as Toyota, Nissan, Shingijutsu Consulting, or other reputable companies that have the recognition for being successful, Lean enterprises.
  • Extensive implementation experience with the following techniques is required: 5S, Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), production leveling techniques such as Heijunka, Visual Workplace, Standardized Work, Cellular Manufacturing, Kaizen, Single Minute Exchange of Die (SMED), Single Piece Flow and Pull, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
