We have an immediate need for a Director of Technical Training at our Corporate Headquarters in Franklin Park, IL.This position will design and oversee product learning and development programs within our organization. Training Director’s responsibilities include identifying training needs by consulting with stakeholders and identifying needs/skills gap analyses, developing group and individual learning courses, managing the training budget, and developing educational curricula and material and increasing trainees’ engagement with learning sessions. To be successful in this role, you should have solid experience organizing trainings and designing the educational curriculum. Ultimately, this position will help us develop our customers and our manufacturer sales representatives as well as our employees’ technical and soft skills in order to improve quality of work, productivity and retention.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead and drive the development of technical training courses for all levels (beginner, intermediate and advanced). This will include the promotion of training center, curricula development, class descriptions, brochures, etc.
  • Coordinate product-related trainings, including presentations of new features and simulation activities in a demo environment as well as soft skill training such as how to present to customers, introduction to selling, etc. targeted towards manufacturer rep sales organization.
  • Develop, communicate and implement tiered training plan for customers (at various levels), manufacturer rep sales representatives and other partners.
  • Schedule in-house educational sessions using e-learning platforms as well as other tools.
  • Manage all aspects of the training center (scheduling, planning, facilities/equipment needs, reporting) and coordinate with sales team and manufacturer reps, at in-house training facilities, in field and in rep training centers. 
  • Design, develop and implement training centers at in house facility. Generate standards and ensure compliance of training facility at selected manufacturer rep training centers.
  • Develop and publish metrics to measure improvement in sales, and customer satisfaction/loyalty driven by training program. Develop and administer the training group budget.
  • Gather feedback from trainees and instructors and recommend suggestions to the learning process.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications or a related field.
  • Proven work experience as a Technical Training Manager or Director with minimum of 10 years of experience in technical training.
  • Experience in developing technical course content both for novices and experts with technology.
  • Knowledge of web-based learning platforms and modern educational techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical terms using simple language.
  • Customer understanding, technical aptitude, product and application understanding, analytical skills, problem solving and analysis, interpersonal, verbal and written communication, organization, leadership, group presentations, interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to interact with various levels within the organization. 
  • Ability to travel 40% domestically.

 

Preferred Criterion:

 

  • Certification in training and development.
  • Experience in plumbing or related building products field.
  • Sales or Product Management experience.
