We have an immediate opening for a Solidification Engineer.  In this role you will apply a basic understanding of Creo Parametric modeling software to design gating and risering systems.  Utilize Magmasoft Solidification software to optimize gating designs.  Communicate CAD request to FKP Additive Manufacturing Team for printed tool prototypes.  Work with internal pattern shop resources to build prototype tools and coordinate with engineering and foundry departments to test the sample tooling.  Interpret and apply scrap data to focus gating optimization.  Complete Magmasoft Level 1 training for copper-based alloys will learn to use both Pro Engineer and Magma Soft Solidification software to design runner and gating systems and simulate the results of those designs.  In addition you will manage and assist in the daily operations of  the Brass Monkey Project (BMP) research facility and help plan future operations.



  • Design and simulate runner and gating systems involving innovative thinking as to the best design of the runner and gating system to reduce failure rate

  • Follow sample castings through post casting operations and complete Pre Trial investigations

  • Work with pattern shop resources to mount printed prototype foundry tooling

  • Create gating system designs for simulation in Creo Parametric




  • B.S. in an Engineering, Technology, or Manufacturing related field

  • 0-2 years of experience in the metal casting industry

  • Experience or focused secondary education in metal casting processes

  • Excellent communication, verbal and written, presentation skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

  • Ability to learn to utilize CAD software (Pro Engineer, Solidworks or Catia)


Preferred Skills/Education/Certifications

  • Project management experience a plus

  • Gating and riser design experience a plus

  • Passionate about metalcasting industry a plus
