This Quality Assurance Engineer II position reports directly to the site Quality Manager, at our Augusta Arkansas location. It will lead activities that develop people, improve customer satisfaction, reduce scrap, and implement innovative solutions to problems and/or process issues for manufacturing value streams assigned. Where nonconformance is identified, this position will employ effective problem-solving methodologies to identify root causes and implement their corresponding corrective and preventive actions.

 

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive execution of quality initiatives and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) across the assigned manufacturing value streams to achieve quality improvement objectives (E.g. Customer Incident Rate, PPM, Cost of Poor Quality - Scrap, InterCompany Incident Rate, etc.).
  • Lead root cause investigation and resolution of customer incidents in compliance with industry best practice “closed loop” methodologies (E.g. 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone Diagrams, A3’s, etc.) and Sloan’s internal Quality Management System requirements. Coordinate containment activities to ensure proper segregation of nonconforming product from un-intended use.
  • Work with new product development teams and site peers in utilizing PQP based management systems to achieve Sloan objectives in sales growth and product vitality, while eliminating or reducing risk of defect escape.
  • Complete internal quality system audits as assigned within the plant Internal QMS audit program. Aid in the development of a Layered Process Audit (LPA) program.
  • Support the plant in establishing process controls on critical to quality characteristics. And as an authority on establishment of statistically representative sample plans within quality control inspections.
  • Aid in the coordination of FAI submissions as necessary for part qualification with customers, or as part of incoming part qualification. Serve as an authority on FAI/PPAP as necessary within the quality team.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required.

 

Preferred Experience

  • Manufacturing experience (IATF automotive preferred)
  • Great communication, reporting, follow-up, and project management skills and works with a sense of urgency
  • Must be able to formulate and implement quality control plans to control critical to quality characteristics to reduce/eliminate nonconformances in the value stream.
  • Experience with ISO:9001:2015 quality management systems.

 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bachelor's Degree in Technical discipline (E.g. Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Metallurgical Engineering, etc.).
  • 5+ Years Relevant Experience in a manufacturing quality assurance role
