In this role Pattern Makers will be responsible for the proper operation and maintenance of a variety of different types of machine shop equipment. Supports manufacturing and facilities personal by using skills and abilities to fabricate, modify and repair a vast array of machines and components in a safe and timely manner. Performs economically feasible repairs to the greatest extent possible with stock or purchased parts and available tools.

 

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set up and operate a wide variety of manual and CNC machine tools and hand-finishing operations on metal and urethane materials to be used as patterns and cores.
  • Determine operation sequence, draft and shrinkage allowances, location of cores, parting lines, gating, and core-related needs working to very close tolerances.
  • Inspect and check pattern equipment for necessary repairs and replacements to maintain it in proper condition as required.
  • Compute ratios to mix and pour plastic patterns.
  • Review trial sheets and sample castings and modify patterns as necessary.
  • Own and maintain toolbox and necessary tools to measure tooling and set up the various machines in Pattern Shop
  • Use a wide variety of precision measuring devices.
  • Perform scheduled alignment of mold machine.
  • Reverse engineer worn or broken machine parts of various machinery in-house so as to keep production in operation.
  • Works in a safe and orderly manner at all times. Adheres to plant, department and area rules and regulations.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area at all times
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  •  Vocational / Technical Program Completion
  • <1 year Completed or Attending Advanced Machining School
  • <1 year Started Apprenticeship
  • Actively identifies problems and opportunities for change and implements solutions where appropriate.

  • Read and understand blueprints.
  • Working knowledge of die casting, injection molding, machining, and/or fabrication.

Lifting/Carrying

  • Occasionally 1-33%: Lift / Carry 26-50 lbs.
  • Frequently 34% - 66%: Lift / Carry 1-10 lbs.
