We have an immediate need for a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Sloan's global headquarters in Franklin Park, IL. The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will:

  • Assume ownership and leadership in the overall design, development, and analysis of complex systems, components and assemblies. 
  • Perform engineering analysis, prototyping, and experiments to support new product development and production products, ensuring high standards of quality.
  • Utilize, develop and promote the use of best practices in engineering such as DFMEA, tolerance analysis, pugh/concept selection process, and team brainstorming. 
  • Release all documentation and conduct thorough checking and part validation processes such as ISRs, PPAPs, and pilot runs. 
  • Work within CAD and PLM systems to ensure optimized processes and work flows. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use a combination of logic, experience, analysis, mathematics, and best practice methodologies to develop robust solutions, timely decisions, and solve problems. Including but not limited to tolerance analysis, DFMEAs, and methodic determination of best design concepts (e.g. Pugh matrix).
  • Define test and experimental protocols for system and component design verification, produce engineering reports.
  • Design components & complex systems documenting them with drawings using Creo and other formats/software packages as required. Follow established document control procedures and recommend improvements, working with CAD and PLM systems. Ensure ISRs, PPAPs are done on new/revised parts.
  • Support requests for continuous engineering assistance from production, quality and the field.  Develop timely and customer focused solutions
  • Maintain a good understanding of the business needs and goals, and industrial and technical trends
  • Lead, mentor and instruct entry level engineers on projects and procedures
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required.

 

Requirements:

  • 3-10 years of experience, depending upon education and specific prior experience
  • Excellent knowledge of 3D solid modeling software
  • Mechanical engineering background required in hydraulics. mechanisms, dynamics, and tolerance study
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills and math/engineering theory knowledge
